SUPERINTENDENT OF
GRIFFIN TECHNOLOGY ACADEMIES

MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT
Welcome to our website and to our four schools. We hope your website visit is enjoyable. There are so many exciting things here at our four schools this year, it is hard to fit everything onto one site!
Our four college and career preparatory public schools were started in 1999 with the launching of Mare Island Technology Academy Middle School. Since then, we have been expanding our schools and our student body, and we now have two high schools and two middle schools.
These schools serve students from across Vallejo and beyond - this year we added an innovative new Independent Learning Program called GTAi to each of our schools, so that students from other cities and counties can also enjoy our fresh and relevant programs.
Those students join our site-based students to engage with our wide range of engaging academic programming, from technology and digital arts to math, science and English. And just as we have been doing for the past 25 years, we are creating and implementing new innovative courses for the next school year.
If you are new to our website, we encourage you to visit one or more of our schools. Our visitors can see the energy in the air as we grow our academic and athletic programs. This year we again expanded our athletic program; now we have three middle school sports for boys and girls, in addition to our four high school sports. We have recently won a girls volleyball championship, and one of our boys basketball teams is on track to win one as well.
Speaking of sports, visitors can also see the new gymnasium being built on the site of the old Omega Boys and Girls Club gym. This long-awaited gym will be ready to serve our students’ athletic needs and plenty more next fall; the gym will also serve the greater north Vallejo community. Here is a live video feed of the gym construction, for those who cannot make it in person yet. (Griffin Technology Academies - Construction Live Stream)
This year, we have added more local community groups and businesses to our list of partners for our Work Based Learning program. All our students are required to participate in our Work Based Learning program; it is important for us to instill a sense of community in our students, as well as academic success. Our work-based learning team is hard at work creating new opportunities for our students, and we welcome community partners to contact us with ideas.
So on behalf of our inspiring and gifted teachers, coaches, counselors, and all our hardworking staff members, I welcome you to take a look at our schools.
If you want to pay a visit, or are considering enrolling your student at one of our Schools, please email our Director of Family and Community Engagement Ms. Mildred Gains (mgains@gtaschools.org) for more information or to schedule a personal tour.
Warmly,
Nick Driver
